We were delighted in May 2022 to open our new First Aid Treatment Centre at Newark Showground. This centre was designed by our volunteers to provide excellent facilities for the treatment of those who suffer injury or become ill whilst at events at Newark Showground. Working with Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society who own the Showground starting April 2021 we agreed to move to a new more central site and we would fundraise, design and build the new Centre. The Showground agreed to fund the laying of the concrete base at the new site and over a period of 9 months we raised £125,000 to purchase the new modular building. It was manufactured by Concept Cabins Ltd and delivered in March 2022. We moved from the old facility on site and after a further £10,000 investment in equipment and resources we opened at the County Show in May 2022. The last year the new facility has proved itself, with improved heating, ventilation, air conditioning and fully accessible to all. With large events increasing at the Showground the First Aid Centre is a very important asset. At the Focus Religious Festival in July 2022 the centre dealt with 144 patients over 5 days. We have received a huge amount of praise from those who have had to use the centre – with many compliments on the design as well as the care received from our volunteers. This year in spring 2023 we also overhauled all of our vehicles. Our 4x4 Response Unit had a complete new livery, our 2014 Mobile Treatment Unit had works done costing several thousand pounds to upgrade & ensure its future reliability. Our new Cycle Response Unit joined the fleet. We have also invested heavily in Major Incident Equipment.
Our New Treatment Centre provides excellent facilities for patients and our own volunteers.
The Centre has three Treatment Bays all with air conditioning, heating, sink units, examination couches, medicine trolleys. All surfaces are easy wipe clean, windows offer various ventilation patterns, LED lighting throughout. A patient accessible toilet and waiting area with accessible entrances and adequate storage makes the area welcoming to all. A reception office with secure storage, staff rest room, kitchen, toilet and shower provides much improved facilities for our volunteer first aiders. Often our members provide 24 hour cover for a number of days and the facilities allow us to give high quality care whilst keeping our volunteers comfortable.
